So my clients have been extracting their meth using a dehydrator set at a temperature of no more than 24 degrees C. The dehydrator also uses a fan to move air. This produces more of a dense crystal rock product than it does a crystal shard product.

However, another client just showed me pictures of a finished product from a method his contact used. This method rendered very decent crystal shards that appear long and narrow. Its a finished product that's more desirable compared to our evaporation via dehydrator method.

His contact charged him for the work, and will not tell him how its done.

So my question is this;

What is the best method for extracting meth from water that will yield a crystal product.

Below is the instructions for how the liquid meth solution is made.

250g of meth is crushed to a powder and added to a 1000ml beaker. The beaker is then filled with ultra pure de-ionized water until the solution reaches the 500ml mark. This only actually takes about 300ml of the water.

The solution is stirred with heat until fully dissolved.

Put it on the stove and start boiling the water off. Don't worry boiling the water/meth won't hurt it. boil it until a skin starts forming on the top. turn It off and leave it set there for 8 hours. Cover it if you are worried about dust. after sitting there for 8 hout it in the fridge for at least 8 hours or 12, then put it in the freezer and keep an eye on it, so it doesn't freeze and filter it ice cold, reduce the water until a skin starts to form and do it again. the size of the crystals directly relates to how long they were allowed to slowly cool. the longer, the bigger. There are many other ways, but they all start by evaporating all of the water out and dissolving it in alcohol or some other solvent

Ok i recieved a reply, may you help?

1. Boil the solution until a skin starts to form on the surface, turn off the heat and let it sit covered for 8 hours.

2. Place the solution in the fridge for 8-12 hours.

3. Place the solution in the freezer, keeping an eye on it so it does not freeze.

4. Start again at step 1.

I didn't quite understand what you said regarding the rest of step 3 about the freezer.

How long does it stay in the freezer? what am I waiting to happen before taking it out and putting it back on the stove?

Also, how will i know when to stop repeating all of these cycles?

Will there end up being the tiniest bit of fluid sitting with large crystals? Then will i continue to put it on the stove and get the fluid boiling?

Or should i just drain off some fluid once a large amount of crystals start forming?

Letting the crystals dry out in the open, and re processing the remaining fluid?

Your waiting on the water/ meth to get as cold as it can without freezing. hot liquid solvents can hold a lot more product in solution than coldsolvents, so you are evaporating the water down until it is super saturated, and meth starts to fall out of solution, while it's boiling hot. as it cools the amount of meth it can hold becomes less and less, and if you do it slowly the precipitated meth will add itself to an already formed crystal, making it bigger. Water at just above freezing holds a minimal amount of meth, so you went from a super saturated solution and slowly cooled it until it was as cold as it would get without freezing. decanting the water off of the crystals that form in the freezer is a fine idea. after you decant the water off as much as you can, I suggest putting it( the crystals) back in the freezer. the water left in it will evaporate even at those cold temperatures, due to the breeze that blows everytime it turns on and blows cold air. if you have an amount of a mixture, let's call it X, it has A amount of water and b amount of meth, so;
A+B=X
Then you reduce the water until it's super saturated. At room temperature 1ml of water dissolves 1g of meth, so at 100c ( boiling water temperature ) it probably holds maybe 1.3g and at freezing temperatures it's 0.6g( these aren't the technically correct numbers I'm just showing an example) 250g/ 1.3g=193ml it will start to skin over, 193 ×0.6g=115g. so 193ml of ice cold water can hold 115g of meth, 250-115=135g is your hypothetical yeild after doing the procedure once, not counting for any water that evaporated. the reaction mixture you recover should be 115g+ water, at 1.3g thats 88.46 ml of water. thats where the mixture will start to skin the second time 88.46×0.6=53.06g of meth on the second run not counting for evaporation, leaving 62g of meth still in the water.
28.62g is the hypothetical yeild this round, not accounting for evaporation, 33.4 left. then it will be around 16 and 16 left, then it will be 8 and 8 left, then it will be 4 and 4 left. you can stop whenever you want and just evaporate the rest into the powder , like you've been getting

So ive messaged him;

"
When purifying any substance through crystallization, you first heat the solution to evaporate excess water until it becomes concentrated, then let it cool slowly at room temperature so crystals can begin forming. After that, you chill it in the refrigerator and then the freezer, each temperature drop slows the cooling process and helps larger, more orderly crystals grow. You then separate the crystals from the remaining liquid while everything is still cold. The cycle of concentrating the liquid (by heating) and slowly cooling it (room temp - fridge - freezer) is repeated only if further purification is needed; you stop once large, clean crystals form and only a small amount of liquid remains, and then the crystals are simply dried.

1. Leave the solution to cool down for 8 hours
2. Then refridgerate for another 8
3. In the freezer for 8-12
4. Repeat until purified enough
"
He messaged back with;

And at no point will the crystals already formed start burning when applying enough heat to get the fluid boiling again?
Or do i separate each batch of formed crystals after the final cooling phase and before reheating the remaining liquid?

I apologize for the questioning, I just want to make sure i understand this correctly, and i appreciate your time.

Not an issue. meth hcl( whay you have) MELTS at 176c and water BOILS at 100c, so as long as you don't run it completely out of water, it stays far below a temperature that can damage it. when something boils, like water does at 100c, I you then cranked the heat up to the max, thenwayer still won't get it any hotter than 100c, it will just boil harder. It's just a rule of physics, it takes x amount of energy to transition its phase then you won't be able to add energy and maintain the previous phase. I suggest decanting the water off of the crystals which will sink to the bottom. YOU DON'T WANT TO LET IT WARM BACK UP, AFTER YOU HAVE DECANTED THE WATER the warmer water will dissolve some of the meth and it will dry in its amorphous form ( what you currently have been getting) so open the freezer decant the water put the crystals back in the freezer ( no lid) the air blowing around inside the freezer basically sublimates the small amount of water left in with the crystals.

If you really want big crystals, you boil it until a skin forms, turn it off, and leave it uncovered and check it in 2 weeks but expect to wait a month before it's done. letting it evaporate slowly over about a month will get you the big big crystals, but it takes a month.

He has replied with:

and the fact that the solution becomes less saturated as the crystal forms out.

That helps me understand why more heat is needed again and again. So that water can be boiled off again and the solution become more saturated.

So i guess that means decanting the solution and placing the already formed crystals back in the freezer is fine ( or fridge instead so that the water doesnt freeze on the outside of the crystal?).
