Dear Friends, I wanna to share my experience for a warning about how important the choose right equipment. Becarefull please , dont make same mistake like me.

Some of the beakers I used were purchased from professional chemistry stores. However, in a recent rush, I bought a product labeled "Barosilicate" and "heat-resistant" from a supermarket.

I didn't know these things could explode, and I didn't think they would explode this badly. I was very lucky; my back was turned and I was 10 feet away from the stove when it happened.
I had hearing damage in my left ear, glass shrapnel in the back of my head, and the explosion was so loud that people from the next building came out to see what had happened.

Never rush when choosing the glass products you use (don't be fooled by the thick appearance and heat-resistant labeling), please use professional beakers.

I wish for everyone safe cooking.

if it is real boro 3.3 it cant be explode (we try it, put it -21 and than put in on directly bbq coal when hot for testing and nothing happened but dont try at home, we just really high at that moment)

I'm still in shock. At first, I thought the stove had exploded. Later, when I examined it, I realized the beaker had exploded because the iron pieces inside the stove were bending downward, and I was certain. The product inside the beaker was a very small amount of salt, which had no chance of expansion. Oddly enough, I'd used this beaker at higher temperatures. I didn't even cool it suddenly. Because the product inside was almost dehydrated, I turned off the stove. I left it there, to allow the heat to dissipate the last of the moisture.
I'm laughing about it now, but I keep finding small glass parts in some places in the farthest corners of the room. I remember where I bought it. I'll share the brand and picturww when I go to that store

There is something missing here... like.. the piece tying this nonsense story together. Maybe they are selling bootleg borosilicate pyrex over there, but even if they were, It sounds like it was impossible for what you say happened unless the glass was made out of meth ?

"..No. ...Not meth.
Fulminated mercury
...with a 'tweak of chemistry' " ...right ?

Don't be fooled by heat resistant labels... HUH?
What's a professional beaker? How can I not be fooled by the label?
Guess it is best to test it and see if it explodes by heating with some salt in it? ...

To inspect your glassware for defects and clean them before operation.
To be sober and undistracted when playing with fire and chemicals also.
It sounds maybe like a case of thermal shock with something to boost it... everybody knows if you heat or cool your glass too quickly it will break, right? Pyrex or boro isn't immune to this.. it is just tempered for heat - you still have to be gentle with it.

This is a good reminder. Events like this are the reason why I avoid the temptation to buy cheap glassware from China or unknown producers. With the only exception of the Vevor distillation kit I purchase all glassware exclusively from a well established distributor of professional lab glassware from known manufacturers with traceability, certificates of quality where applicable etc.

Hmmm

Swim was gonna buy cheap borosilicate glass beakers from Wal Mart online

It would be terrible if your trying to "cold bath" (have ice+salt or dry ice+acetone)
Or
Heat the beaker (because your trying to evaporate ?)

And something bad happens !

Oh no !

See, I wouldn't think twice myself.
Walmart isn't exactly the dollar store. They will link you through vevor or some other third party distributor anyhow. It all comes from the same place upstream really..

Just look twice and make sure it isn't "BAROSILICATE"
