Hi everyone,

I need an urgent advice from a chemist.

During the delivery process from ordered A-Oil the vendor didn't seal the package correctly, so all the liquid
has spread inside the package. As stealth, clothing was repackaged and this is now soaked with all the oil. It is a large amount, so I need urgent advice whether it is possible to put the clothes in a bath of Isopropanol to dissolve out the oil and let then the Isopropanol evaporate .
Can this be done, or are there even more effective methods to dissolve the oil out of the clothes again as good as possible?

Thanks in advance

@chefgorden this could be also a method.

I have already uses the way with IPA. Could only soak a part, because I need significantly more IPA and I want to repeat the process 1-2 times so that as little as possible remains in the clothing. Is it sufficient to leave the vessel open for 1-2 days so that the IPA evaporates, or does it make more sense to take a large round bottom flask and heat it in a bath or a heater until the IPA evaporates and the freebase remains in the flask?

Don't leave it in air, you will lose base and sol will be red.Try precipitating with the IPA in it, if it's too dillute then you can evaporate for a bit and precipitate immediately after.

If I understand you correctly, the freebase in the solution with IPA should settle to the bottom as a precipitate, correct?
I sieve the IPA until only the freebase remains? In case I have to evaporate a part, is it better to use a magnetic stirrer instead of an open flame to evaporate more gently? I'd rather ask one question too many than end up with a base that is unusable.^^

No, its’a liquid and it will be in homogeneous solution. No flame

about evaporation I can’t speak, haven’t done atmospherically or at least intentionally
