Safrole and NABH4 testing

Alright, hi guys, long time no see, I missed all of you of course, I have just been busy plotting and scheming, you know, masterminding stuff...

So I got two issues and I don't know if I'm just this overworked that I cannot find a decent solution to them myself OR these fields are totally new to me so maybe I do not even know WHERE to look..

Anyway, here it goes:

1. SAFROLE distilled fractionally from plant oil
The fractions came over somewhere around 232-236C and were combined, however no strong smell that I'm used to is present unfortunately. It seems a clear oil, with a slight yellow tint, I was really careful to fractionally distill away everything else..
I know about freezing the safrole to -12C (thanks erowid), however I do not currently have a freezer at my disposal to see what kind of crystals start crashing out, are there any chemical tests that can give me a definite answer if what I got is actually safrole without having it tested via GC, other than the boiling point?

2. NABH4, I am pretty sure I was just scammed for a kilogram, either that or I suddenly forgot how to use it after having used it many times already. It just did not work. Could be that it degraded, since it looks like the seller let water bind to the compound heavily? If so, how would I check for purity of sodium borohydride?

Thanks and to the people who get me the answers I need, I will pick the best ones and offer myself as a middleman if they ever need anything, I can find it for them for cheap and I can send it anywhere inside the EU. I already have access to some huge chemical suppliers, going to be starting my own chemical warehouse soon, so help me out and I will help you out if you want.

2.Here I cannot comment other than the fact that I heard some china vendors can be hit or miss with the freshness of the hydroborate.It has 400C melting point, you can measure if you are equipped.

Loki12borohydride (as well as any other hydride) is moisture sensitive and getting it wet would completely upset me since it can't possibly perform nowhere near to what I expect to...
