Hello all, I wanted to ask (yet again) advice on converting pmk glycidate to mdp2p, it’s been a year since I last did it and wanted to check with people prior to continuing.
I’ll try to keep this brief.
Cold solution of 40g naOH in aprox 500 ml dh20 added to rbf containing 250 g pmk powder. Overhead stirring used intermittently. Over 2 hrs, brought temperature to max 70c, held for 2 hours.
cooled overnight to 13c, added 150ml of cold 20% hcl 10-20ml at a time over 45 min, slowly raising the temp, intermittent overhead stirring, co2 evolution as expected.
Completed addition. Brought to max temp of 90 c held for 30 minutes.

I’ve done this a few times but don’t remember the oil separating into this color.
I haven’t started to extract (using xylene) just yet because I wanted to see about getting some feedback first
