Large Scale Amalgam Write Up?

There seem to be many posts of larger amounts, kilos or more, of borohydride reductions, but where are the large scale amalgam write ups?

Can anyone advise on such a matter? Perhaps a procedure that would process say 1 kilogram of the various ketones would be ideal.

Not much special. 30 grams mercury chloride(can be less, more mercury starts the reaction even faster/quicker) per liter oil, 1.2L methylamine on methanol and then dilute with say wat 2L. Use thick foil dump all together and do in open air, the methanol will slowly boil of leave the blue drum lid on it. Don't do 200L at once, make increments of 5L. And lets say, 0.8KG of thick foil per liter is more then enough per liter on larger scale. Much then more enough.

If you distill after end of the reaction the methanol you can redump in next batch and then add nacl with water to salt it out. I will not say which extractand but there is an extractant that doesn't take the magnesium oxide.

But do not underrestimate the toxicity of mercury.

(if you stand nearby the reaction, when it gets to voilent you could simply dilute it with methanol while it's at boiling point to keep nice auto stirring mechanism)
