Has anyone attempted a similar synthetic pathway? It happens so that something like this just doesn't exist in documentation, or Im just blind.
My general idea is to:
1.) decarb 5-HTP to 5-OH-tryptamine
2.) alkylate the phenol via MeI (which is a rather straight-forward prep)
3.) Follow up with paraformaldehyde + STAB to alkylate the remaining amine.
My goals with this procedure are to essentially carry out the Williamson ether synth on the phenol to get the methoxy, BUT I do NOT want to use the MeI on the amine because quarternary salts are a pain in the ass. Thus, the amines are followed up with in-situ formaldehyde + sodium triacetoxyborohydride and bam, 5-MeO-DMT.
So if anyone has two cents to drop, please do so.
