Three men and a woman have been charged for their alleged role in the alleged manufacture and large-scale supply of methamphetamine, following the discovery of two clandestine laboratories in western Sydney, and cocaine, a substance that was seized in large quantities in connection with the criminal group, allegedly led by a 53-year-old man of dual Mexican and Colombian nationality. Drug production laboratories are spread all over the world, no longer only for cocaine, but also for methamphetamine and other synthetic drugs

The four individuals were arrested on Friday (October 11, 2024) after Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers, with the help of the NSW Police Tactical Operations Unit, executed five search warrants in Sydney's southwestern and western suburbs.

The AFP launched an investigation in September 2024 after receiving a reference from the Australian Border Force (ABF) about the arrival at Sydney airport of a Mexican and Colombian dual citizen with alleged links to organized crime.
AFP claims that while in Australia, the 53-year-old dual citizen prepared for the creation of a clandestine laboratory. He has been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine. The dual national is alleged to have met a 33-year-old Greystanes man at a property in Sydney's west on September 28, 2024. In the following days, the 33-year-old man is alleged to have transported a container suspected of containing precursor chemicals to this property in Sydney's west.

AFP investigators on Friday (October 11, 2024) located a clandestine laboratory on the western Sydney property and a small cache of weapons, including an assault rifle. AFP investigations have also reportedly identified the Greystanes man who took suspicious drug-making materials to a Wentworthville storage facility he had rented.
When investigators searched the Greystanes man's home, they seized about a million dollars in cash, 12 kilos of cocaine, 10 kilos of methamphetamine and a dedicated encrypted communications device.

The Greystanes man has been charged with counts of manufacturing a controlled drug for commercial purposes (methamphetamine), trafficking in commercial quantities of controlled drugs and trafficking in goods suspected to be the proceeds of a crime.
At another property in Sydney's southwest, AFP officers located a 34-year-old man in the middle of a chemical extraction at a clandestine laboratory. Police found 120 kilos of methamphetamine at the property. A 47-year-old woman was also arrested at the property. Both the man and the woman were charged with manufacturing a controlled drug for commercial purposes (methamphetamine).
