I kind of just am wondering if this will work.
Taking MDP2P, and reacting it with methylamine in an alcohol solution to get the imine. I believed this reacrion produces water, so some sort of water absorption will be needed to keep the imine from hydrolysing.
Now, once that is done, remove the water absorption tools (say molecular sieves) somehow, and then introduce formic acid that is as anhydrous as possible into the mix, so the imine gets reduced by the formic acid, and you have your amine.
Just wondering if this would work, and potentially increase yields. The leuckart is amazing simple, but yields are abysmal, and it runs for a long time.
