You are right. You may add Acetic anhydride between 5-6 steps to acetylate morphine. Adjust pH ~3 and, after one hour stirring, neutralize to pH ~5.5-6 by sodium bicarbonate.

Hey G.Petton can i also leave the water/plant mix cook for a bit longer then 1 hour so i dont need to strain it and do the water/pant mix 3 times or isnt that recommended? Also how do i acetylate the morphine with Acetic anhydride and how much do i need?

This method is written for a black tar production. You can make heroine from latex, black tar is much poor product.

Nice! How many poppies did you use?

There's a document in which the process of isolating Morphine from raw Opium (and also further processing and refinement to get pretty high percentage Heroin) as it's done by Afghani poppy farmers is documented and explained very well.
I haven't tried it myself yet, but definitely will do in the next few weeks. Maybe someone else can dial in and say something about if and how it's possible to scale down the extraction technique to fit a small opium yield from a home grow or the like.

May I ask did you oversee the cultivation personally or how can one source the raw materials? I live in a northern climate, near Boston specifically - I don't suppose these can be grown outdoors seasonally? I have an LED light or two for growing marijuana, this shouldn't be a problem to have a poppy or two in the closet? How long does it take from germination to harvest? Is there a reliable seed vendor in the midst? I can probably find information for cultivation on erowid if not here...

To answer some my own naive questions. Poppies grow just fine in northern climates, some even prefer. Seeds which can be acquired in abundance, grocery store variety are active but weak, better strains can be found online, can be cast effortlessly and without much care onto loose soil almost anywhere during autumn or early spring and these things will grow. Indoors works but outdoor is better - you need alot more than 1 or 2. It only takes 2-3 months from start to finish. If sewn in autumn, they hibernate of course.
