Why the your piperonal still in liquid, and not crystals form?

Because the obtained piperonal has such physical and chemical properties and environmental conditions
Amazing, love your work. could we substitute the THF for 1,4 Dioxane? you know these backyard chemist types, would like to know this as 1,4 Dioxane is more obtainable for some of us.
So with this method with THF and potassium permanganate ...
Swim could use the piperine (from black pepper extract <95% pure piperine)
straight as is ?
Or
Convert the piperine to piperic acid (as usual, by reacting it with a hydroxide such as potassium hydroxide, then acidifying the formed piperate salt with hydrochloric acid or another acid.)
And then use the piperic acid with the THF and potassium permanganate method ?
To get the good yeilds of piperonal

i suggest that everyone that are making piperonal from pepper should run a column chromatography cause most extractions from plants material have a lot of impurities, althoug i dont recomend the ozone way (like the chemiolis video) cause the product would contain a lot of impurities, you need to run a column and the overall piperonal yield would be very low. the ethyl vanillin route is the best i think

2.4.2. Oxidative cleavage of piperine with aqueous KMnO4 in THF
An aqueous solution of KMnO4 (2.00 g, 12.6 mmol in 40 mL of water) was added
dropwise over a period of 4 h to a solution of piperine (1.00 g, 3.51 mmol in 40 mL of
THF) at 60 8C. After the solution had been added, the mixture was stirred for 4 h
before the MnO2 precipitate that had formed was filtered off leaving a pale yellow
solution. The sample was extracted with diethyl ether and the combined extracts
were dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate. The ether was evaporated in vacuo to
yield a dark yellow-orange oil that solidified on cooling. Yield: 340 mg (65%). 1
