Hey, I'm thinking about doing this optional step and I've got a few questions.
- Will a vacuum pump like that work for both distillation and vacuum drying?
- Is it worth paying extra for this one instead? Will it actually make a noticeable difference in the procedure?
- Is using a separatory funnel way easier or more efficient than mixing the mixture in a beaker with a stirrer? I’m asking because ventilation here isn’t great so I wanna pick a method that produces fewer harmful fumes. [step 3]
- I assume that a magnetic stirrer would struggle with this amount of liquid and it’s better to use an overhead stirrer, right? Do you know any reasonably priced models that you can recommend?
- What exact reduced pressure values are we talking about? [step 4]
- Does the freezer temperature matter? Would setting it to -22°C instead of -18°C be beneficial in any way? [step 6]

Hello, the first one is more than enough.

What?? It's clearly said that you need separatory funnel. It's more convenient for handling.

Anyone, you can even use even a screwdriver for this.
>- What exact reduced pressure values are we talking about? [step 4]
I can't say for sure, you need to increase vacuum and temperature slowly until it will start to boil.
>- Does the freezer temperature matter? Would setting it to -22°C instead of -18°C be beneficial in any way? [step 6]
I don't think that it is valuable
