can bromination of crude 4 methyl propiophenone be done?

So while making bromoketone you have to add 4 methyl propiophenone to Hbr and use hyd peroxide for bromination.

now the thing is, I have done this before when I bought methylpropiophenone from a vendour but this time I am synthesizing it on my own from scratch

so for now I have synthesized propionyl chloride and I have toluene and aluminium chloride anhydrous


I can reach upto the step where I will put the reaction mixture into ice and hcl and then remove the solvent layer and distill it off but apparently as the video suggested if I get the crude 4 methyl propiophenone will it suffice for bromination purpose? i cannot vaccum distill it as I cannot afford a vaccum pump for now and other thing is I cant buy 4mp because a lot of kyc in my country

For the acetylation reaction, low temperature is important, there are also a number of conditions for obtaining a pure substance at the output. In next step I would also brominate the methylpropiophenone complex with aluminum chloride, this will potentially give the highest yield and excellent purity of the product, the reaction conditions and the purity of 4-methylpropiophenone from the acetylation reaction are also important.

Consideer making 3cmc, it has a lot of easier oprecursor to do - literallyu anything "no risk" purchaches and syntehsis seems to be very easy compared to not quite nice job with propionyl chloride

These proesses are completly different. For 3 chloropropiophenone you may actually buy it eerywhere to syntehtise, for 4mp its rare regants that you can buy
