Phencyclidine (PCP) & Phenibut​

Phencyclidine, known as PCP, is a dissociative that primarily acts on the NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptors in the brain. It antagonizes these receptors, thereby inhibiting the action of the neurotransmitter glutamate, which is involved in pain perception, emotions, learning, and memory formation. PCP also interacts with other receptor systems, including dopamine, opioid, and sigma receptors, contributing to its complex psychopharmacological effects, including hallucinations, euphoria, and altered states of consciousness.

The complexity of the action, high activity with poor dosage, difficult prediction of effects, and easy initiation of adverse reactions make PСP as a whole a risky and dangerous substance. Not to mention its combination with other psychoactive drugs.

Phenibut is a central nervous system depressant with anxiolytic effects, structurally similar to the neurotransmitter GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). It primarily acts as a GABA_B receptor agonist, mimicking the action of GABA by increasing its inhibitory effects in the brain, leading to sedation, reduced anxiety, and muscle relaxation. Phenibut also has effects on the GABA_A receptors, though to a lesser extent, and may enhance the action of dopamine, thus affecting mood and cognitive processes.

The combination of these substances could theoretically amplify both the sedative effects due to Phenibut's GABAergic activity and the dissociative effects of PCP. This might lead to a complex state of altered consciousness, with the potential for both increased euphoria and relaxation but also a significant risk for adverse effects such as:

• Cognitive and Motor Impairment: Both drugs impair cognitive function and coordination, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.
• Psychiatric Symptoms: The combination could exacerbate symptoms like anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations, and delusions, given PCP's psychotic potential and Phenibut's withdrawal symptoms that include severe anxiety and agitation.
• Physical Health Risks: Synergistic effects might increase the risk of cardiovascular issues (e.g., hypertension, tachycardia), additional stress on liver enzymes and cells, and potential overdose scenarios.

We have not come across confirmed data on acute and fatal conditions associated with this combination. Given the considerable risks associated with the use of either substance, combining them increases the unpredictability of their effects and the severity of potential adverse outcomes. The theoretical and speculative benefits some might seek in combining these drugs are far outweighed by the risks of acute toxicity, psychological disturbances, and the potential for physical harm.
