Fastest Reduction Method?

I'm just making sure my readings are correct.

It seems that borohydride and maybe mercury amalgam are the fastest reduction methods. The borohydride can take a while, but it can be cut short for some losses in yield. I bet a bit of an excess of borohydride can solve that though, any thoughts on that?

Am I correct that mercury amalgam and borohydride are probably the fastest reduction methods of ketone to amine?

I would say either or the way to increase yields with NaBH4 is to use a cupric chloride catalyst.

Red al is also rather quick

Lithium is the strongest reducer. It can give electrons (protons) at an incredible rate. I'd expect it to be fastest due to that. I think reductions are limited by kenetics more than particular reductants. You could likely make meth in 0.001 seconds, if you can contain a serious explosion and a mountain of sideproducts

Would love to have a couple hundred Gs of P2P and experiment with different reduction METHods (Al/Hg amalgam, sodium borohydride, sodium cyanoborohydride, Leukert, Aluminum Lithium Hydride AlLiH4 with THF solvent)

*There's electroreduction, hydrogenation with Pd and/or Pt metal -likes', Raney Nickel, Uresumbrella .. spelled wrong sorry

I can vouch, an average SnB Li reduction is about 30 minutes from cap on to cap off. Needs time for the ammonia to evolve or some extra steps before you salt out but probably the fastest overall reaction.

I have heard that a RP/I2 can be completed as it progresses by the water in the iodine. So the pressure isn't necessary for the 'push-pull'. Supposedly 15 minutes and you have a full reduction. No need for the 8 -12 -24 hour reflux. I wish I could shed some light on it for everyone but man.. what the hell?

Might have to pick up the Meth via PPA quest again..
