Hide your data on any USB device

In the following steps I will explain you a very easy example how to make your operating system including all your data portable and invisible from unwanted visitors.

Since the conversion is self explanatory, it was not documented pictorially.



Step 1:


Get a USB stick with a high reading speed and USB 3.1.

In my case a Samsung MUF-128AB.

With this dimensions its perfect for this purpose.

You only have to remove the imprint on the stick.

At next you create a bootable stick with an operating system like Windows to go / Linux Mint via "Rufus".

There are a tons of instructions on Youtube.

Once the installation is complete, go into the bios, boot the stick and transfer all relevant data to your new system.



Step 2:


Order a USB charching repair kit, which looks authentic.

Now I think everything should be clear.

Take a superglue and glue the cable first with the socket of the USB C side and then the connector itself.

Pay attention to the distance from the socket to the connector and that it is aligned straight.

Take a plier and cut off the plastic case of the falsh device.

You will see that there is no difference from the size to the spare part.

Glue the cover of the other side and carefully try to place the stick there.

Don't press it to hard, remove some plastic inside of the cover.

In my case the stick was a bit bigger, so the cover cracked which is why the stick sits a bit crooked in the case as in the pictures.

Now you have a seperates operating system, which can only be accessed if you plug the "charging cable" into the computer and boot it via Bios, which will not be found and confiscated in any case of a search warrant, because its not a storage medium.

To be sure that nothing happens, unplug it from the computer after each use and plug it into the power adapter.

For people who need even more security like me, there is another step.



Step 3:


Buy another USB stick and a SMALL USB OTG adapter.

In addition, I got an OXVA xlim SE electric cigarette.

This can be opened by taking out the pin on the side, as shown in the video.

All you have to do is remove the battery cut the OTG cable and solder it to the USB C port.

Plug in the new USB stick, assemble it and connect it to the computer via data cable.

Boot your system device from the cable, encrypt it and put the key on the other one.


Finish!

It would actually be quite insane to have it all save on a USB C-Type and not a regular one so it fits the look of android chargers! Most notebooks do have C-Type ports anyway..I do wonder if data transfer would be possible through c-type charging ports in notebooks but I am sure that will be the easiest thing to realize

Unfortunately, a double-sided usb C cable will not work, since there is no storage medium in this size yet, so a usb A port must be available for a charging cable.
If you are concerned about the connection itself, you could of course use the above mentioned repair kit as intended, only that you solder the stick from behind.

Or you could use a device with usb C input as explained in step 3, where the storage medium is located in the device itself, which is only visible when it is connected to the computer via OTG cable.
For example a cell phone power supply.

I have a few Usb Sockets in my wall all of them fpr loading devices. Only one of them is manipulated with a sandisk micro usb. looks the same from the outside and I think you really must have done a lot of shit for the popo to tear out your sockets.
(also very good since I'm kind of a messy when it comes to perifals already lost 2 of those tiny sticks).
