So a while back, on a foreing auction site, you could buy precursors lik the glycidates. They however also sold many things, but I saw them selling n-methylacetamide (NMA) often as well.
As this was a trend, I started looking into this. I'm under the suspicion that it is being used to replace n-methylformamide for the leuckart
Not a chemist, but I believe if you hydrolyse NMA with formic acid, it should form methylammonium formate and acetic acid. One can likely use as is in a leuckart, perhaps with some weak base to reduce acidity, or heat then distill out NMF.
Is this possible? Or is this just a ridiculous route.
