Hi!
A one-pot synthesis to meth does not work, but you could first reduce the P2NP to P2P and then use it to produce methamphetamine.
A method using iron and HCl is described here: P2NP reduction to P2P using iron
Since iron is magnetic, you need a KPG (overhead) stirrer.
It is also possible to carry out the reduction with tin(II) chloride dihydrate and hydrochloric acid. In this case the tinn(II)chloride acts as the reducing agent, but I don't have the recipe to hand at the moment.
I read a method talking about this, but I have not tried it
I said that
reduce phenyl-2-nitropropene to phenyl-2-nitropropane
Then from phenyl-2-nitropropane to methamphetamine with n-methylformamide + Zn + HCl
Yield = 5g meth from 5g P2NP
