Greetings to the aspiring cooks! Today, we are going to tell you how to cook Mephedrone (also known as 4-MMC, Meow Meow).

Until about 20 years ago, nobody knew about mephedrone, but soon it began to conquer the world. People quickly fell in love with it and started calling meph nothing less than «the new cocaine», «the ecstasy killer», «better than meth», and so on. It's hard to say whether they're right or wrong, but the fact that mephedrone has become a living classic, leading the top euphoria drugs, is a fact. Mephedrone is the royal drug.

Although mephedrone is banned in many countries, we love it with all our hearts and want to teach you how to cook it.
We present you the easiest and fastest way to cook mephedrone in your kitchen.


The simplest synthesis of mephedrone with 1L flask or bottle.


  • This synthesis requires no labware.
  • You will need a 1 liter glass flask bottle with a screwcap.


Proportions required for 1L flask:
  1. 2b4mp* - 100g​
  2. Benzene - 200ml​
  3. Methylamine 40% - 140ml​
  4. Hydrochloric acid - 40ml​
  5. Acetone - 600ml

    *In this thread we show you how to get 2b4mp fast and easy right in the glass!


Step 1: Synthesis
Take 200ml of benzene and pour it into a bottle. Carefully add 100g 2b4mp. Shake the bottle until 2b4mp dissolves completely. Then add 140ml of 40% aqueous methylamine solution. Place a cellophane sheet under the lid and close tightly. Create an airtight seal inside the bottle by wrapping the neck with tape. Allow the mixture to stand for 24 hours with periodic stirring.

If you place the bottle in water at 40-50 degrees and stir more vigorously, the synthesis time is reduced to 3-4 hours.


Step 2: Free base flushing
Important: Wear gloves throughout the process.
When the time is up, pour the contents of the bottle into a 2 liter plastic bottle and pour 1 liter of 30-40ºC water into the same bottle. Close the lid and stir well for a few minutes. Then wait for a clear separation of the fractions, which takes 15-20 minutes. There will be a free base of 4-MMC in benzene (oil) at the top, water at the bottom. We need the top layer. The bottom layer needs to be drained. To do this, turn the bottle upside down and open the lid slightly. So that the contents of the bottle are slowly poured out. When only the top layer remains in the bottle, you must stop draining.
Then, pour another liter of warm water into the bottle and repeat the process of rinsing the oil out of the bottle. And again drain the aqueous fraction into the trash. In the end, after all the manipulations, you should have only yellow oil in the bottle (free base 4-MMC in benzene).


Step 3: Acidification
For acidification, the contents of the bottle can be poured into a wide-necked liter jar, or the bottle itself can be carefully cut in half. Hydrochloric acid and acetone, mixed in a ratio of 1 to 10, are used for acidification. For 100 grams of 2b4mp, you will typically need 30-40 ml of hydrochloric acid and 300-400 ml of high quality dry acetone. It is better to prepare an acid solution immediately before starting acidification. The acidification is carried out in small portions and the mixture is stirred constantly. For mixing it is convenient to use a thin long 1ml syringe or a syringe plunger.

As the acid solution is added, a slurry precipitate will form and the mixture will self-heat. If the mixture gets too thick, you can dilute it with 50-100 ml of acetone (more is possible). The mixture should not be too thick, otherwise it will be difficult to filter it out.
Once acidification is complete, the mixture should be cooled and stored in the freezer for 4-6 hours.
Do not forget to put a lid on the jar.

When acidifying it is desirable to fix the pH of the mixture with indicators, when the pH=5 is reached, stop the acidification.


Step 4: Filtration
After freezing you get a mushy mixture. Filter this substance through a paper filter or a thick napkin or cloth. Dry in the air cut into pieces.
Mephedrone should be white with a slight tint, with a faint odor and a bitter taste. If the mephedrone obtained has a pungent smell, a sour or salty taste, or a color very different from white, it should be washed. When it is completely dry, grind the mephedrone into a fine powder. Add a small amount of ice-cold (from the freezer), high-quality dry acetone so that the mixture is liquid. Then filter and dry again. Rinse the mephedrone until it looks good and clean.

From 100g of 2b4mp the average yield is ~50g of mephedrone flour. Which can be crystallized.


Step 5: Crystallization

Dissolve 50g of pure mephedrone powder in 100ml of water (or 50/50 alcohol water or vodka). Heat until bubbling and allow to crystallize in a bowl. You will get mephedrone crystals after the solvent evaporates.



That's it. Now do you see how easy it is to do?

BaroccoI think toluoene should work, cause it is just the solvent for the Freebase. But im just a beginner.

If someone make the methylamin 40% from methylamin hcl with NaOH is it necsesary to destill the methylamin or is it possible to leave the NaCl in the mixture?

xileAnd what about the aceton? Is hardware store aceton enough or is it necsesary to destill and dry it over MgSO4?

And another stupid question: is someone able to destill in a Copper still or is a lab glasware still recommendet?

In relation to my previous questions, I have now experimented a little and think that the NaCl remains in the water layer and is separated with it. The acetone from the hardware store should be enough, because it is mixed with HCl + H2O anyway, so a certain amount of water is not a problem. @OutLaw What do you think about that? Is the theory correct?

And one more question: does the synthesis create pressure? Because tape is used as a sealant. Or is there heat? Could the complete synthesis be done in plastic bottles? The instructions are very good, but I'm missing a few side facts that describe the process in more detail so that I can better put together the necessary utensils.

Training and no how. But there where easyer ways with less of failure sources (everything in just 1 bottle, 2 beaker, pipett and pyrexx bowl. AND you crystalize imidiatly without powder drying first).

xileThat is the style I'm interested in. This synthesis calls for flushing with just water, others suggest ethyl acetate solution. If I replace bezene with DCM is water sufficient or do other solvents produce better results?

The AlchemistI haven't gotten to the point where I can handle the solvents yet. All I know is that DCM is heavier than water and benzene/toluene is lighter. That makes the difference. If, during acidification, the acid hits the solvent with freebase first, the meph flocculates directly. However, if the acid hits the water layer first, it becomes acidic and the freebase goes into the water. In the second variant, the water layer is then removed and placed to crystallize. The DCM layer is contaminated.

xileThat's a good point. Thank you. I think it will be acetone at that point. As in, conduct the reaction in DCM, then flush the solution with water, seperate the layers and trash the water later. Then take the oil layer and mix it with acetone before acidiation. Maybe a different solvent would be better than water if it causes issues during acidiation.
