Hello there.
Nice to meet everyone here.

I used to crystalize Methamphetamine optical pure freebase in cold anhydrous acetone. 1.000 ml of freebase always weighed 910-915 grams. I used HCl 36%(in h2o) which resulted in 700 grams of methamphetamine hcl maximum. After 7 days of a freezing -20° celsius.

My questions:.
1: what was the yield of the described 450g methamphetamine freebase used in method 1? After adding 285ml of HCl 35%, boiling out the water, crashing in 10x times -20° celsius acetone. Freezing at -20° celcius for 1 week. I only saw "900 grams" that must have been a mistake?..

2nd question
I think my 700g yield from 910g starting product was due to the fact that I used 36% HCl in h2o. I had a rather simple idea. What if one was to use HCl in Ether? Would that solve the yield problem in everyone's eyes?

Hello, this method is taken from the book. I assume, there is mistake.

If you wanna recrystallize your d-meth, I recommend you to follow this method, which was carried out by our team and clearly described in details:
Methamphetamine Recrystallization
“ICE” - Crystal Methamphetamine Hydrochloride

So far as 2nd question is concerned, HCl in ether is also good option. Nevertheless, meth hydrochloride yield can be improved by crystallization of Mother liquor after filtration.

I will try 3 things:

1 the book method.
2 acidifying the mother liquor again
3 HCl in ether

Once I have the results. I will share it in this post.
