Can pure free methamphetamine be acidified to methamphetamine hydrochloride by bubbling HCI without any other solvent? If 99% ethanol is added in the normal proportion, will it take a long time to acidify 20ml of free methamphetamine to hydrochloride? I tried bubbling HCI gas for two hours and it still didn't turn into acid.

Yes it can, this is a great way to achieve a good yield and it's shown for example in this video. I can't comment on the time, just the general principle.

I assume that your meth free base will be partially overoxedized by HCl gas and you can get spoiled product.
