Hypophosphorus Acid Synthesis???

Hi wonderful people
Can anyone help me with a solution on how to make hypophosphorus acid and/or anything else that one can use in the Ephedrine-Iodine-hypophosphorus acid synthesis? Without needing to have red phosphorus on hand. Also are there any other names this acid can go by that aren’t the desired one? Or are?? Eg: hypophosphoric acid, hypo acid etc. will these work or no?

Hypophosphorous acid can be made a few ways, most of them starting with phosphorus. ones that don't start from elemental phosphorous include;

Hydrolysis of phosphorus trichloride to phosphorus acid then hydrogenation ot a strong base to hypophosphorus acid

Oxidation of phosphine gas with water or oxygen

Sodium hypophosphite with sulfuric acid

There are 2 species near hypophosphorous acid that can do the trick and several that cant. I haven't looked at that method in a long time, but rust inhibitor, made of sodium hypophosphite, can also be made into hypophosphorus acid

I wish I knew how to apply that and understood/apply it to a action hahaha I hating seeming like I need to be spoon fed but if guys know of a actual paper where it has instructions that would help. But I can also google what you’ve said and work it out so it’s not crucial it’s just easier. Thanks

That’s a good idea, I’ll definitely consider it if and when I actually start manufacturing. At this stage it’s just curiosity. Sorta like learning to dance before asking the girl at bar to hit the dance floor with me. But I can see how having a mentor on hand would be greatly helpful especially if doing big batches. The cost of losing product quickly outweighs that 250!

He just means you can get the reactions off of the videos/forum posts, but then your going to have to scale it, find work-arounds for things you can't get or procedures your not equipped to do ect, but if you had a mentor, they'll hold your little hand instead of telling you to use the fucking search engine
