24 hours is a really long time. We had to deal with bad smells and refrigeration. Is there a way to shorten it? Or would 12-18 hours be enough?

for a long time (a week, month) and reflux with a non fancy heat source like a candle 
for 18-36 hours

Chuncking them in a heat -proof elymyer flask ($13 at Amazon) and use an electric oven or a blow torch 180 temp for an hour or so
*Didn't specify if it was 150 C or 220 F for that quick 180 temp
