1. O amálgama de alumínio deve ser preparado com antecedência, essa é uma etapa importante
2. Adicione seu p2p, metilamina ao amálgama junto com isopropanol
3. Mantenha a temperatura da reação <30 graus
4. Com 40 g de p2p e 40 g de alumínio FOIL, você obterá 100% de fuga

5. Adicione NaOH/KOH antes de filtrar o lodo de Al/Hg, pois isso facilita o processo de filtragem e elimina o Al restante
6. E assim por diante...

Fiz antes em tambores de 200L, tambores de 100L também servem, e fiz uma reação em um pote.
350-400 gramas de mercúrio em 10L b (400 gramas é realmente muito agressivo), 15L de metilamina 40% e depois cerca de 30L de metanol.
Não tenho certeza sobre o papel-alumínio. No final, eu tinha feito cerca de 2/3 de um balde cheio com papel-alumínio arranhado/danificado (sem bolas), portanto, era esse o peso.
No final, era muito papel-alumínio.
Rendimento: 12L com PH 12.
Naquela época, com a metilamina, todos sabem que há alternativas melhores para isso quando se trabalha, por exemplo, com Al/Hg

When you say the Al amalgam can be made in situ does that mean one doesn’t have to wash & decant the HgCl from the aluminum before introducing the p2p + methylamine mixture? The HgCl can be left in the flask while reduction happens and will be extracted out later during product purification?
I'm currently experimenting with al/hg and wanted to scale the synthesis. I asked myself the question of whether it is absolutely necessary to use a capacitor? I suspect it is needed to keep the methylamine and solvent (methanol) in reaction vessel. But would it be possible to compensate for methylamine loss with a new methylamine-methanol solution?

Perhaps an excess of methylamine was used, not much, just to compensate

I have heard of success with nitromethane, but the yields are lower.
I cannot say that the yields where lower with nitromethane, but do not underestimate the danger of nitromethane.
