Help out a noob. Is it safe to say that safrole is the best precursor in terms of being efficient and not with too many reagents? I would thing that starting from something else would be a lot more expensive in terms of the chemicals you have to aquire?

If you never lost four days of your life completely enmeshed in a website, here's your opportunity.
An open web index containing, if not everything, certainly an overwhelming amount of, information, knowledge, and experience. If you get something out of it, and I know you will; be sure to leave a donation so Earth Erowid can continue providing this exceptional resource. Yes, apparently the name of the founding director is Earth; which seems coherent and intrinsically satisfying somehow.
https://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/index.html
Check out some of the other directories of the URL path, because they have extensive written material on all related subject matter. It's a somewhat unsettling amount of knowledge; most of which is original, and the real first hand experiences a lot of people. Much of the detailed information won't be found anywhere else, and there's some really useful knowledge to be had.
A tangent:
While looking for the link, I ended up reading some stuff on their forum, and I noticed right away that 20-25 years ago people said and posted whatever they wanted. Some were careful about what they posted, but most had a "Fuck you. I'll say whatever I want to say" attitude. It occurred that our collective governments have slowly, a little at a time, made us less resistant and more likely to comply. Hmm; I guess I'm a sheep after all
