codeine synthesis using CWE question

i did dissolve 8 tablets of 400\20mg paracetamol\codeine in cold water yesterday using the complate CWE method, after trying to evaporate the solution i did burn that product to have a dirty brown powder

today i'm doing the same thing but need some advice on how to evaporate the solution and extract the codeine phosphate

Try to use a minimum amount of water to do the cold water extraction Filter it well and put it in a dish with alot of surface area to evaporate. Just be patient. No need to use any heat. However if you must, use double boil technique so you don't burn. Evaporating with cooking intervals inside of the microwav can also work. Also, you could choose another solvent that will dissolve the codeine but not the acetaminophen. Maybe isopropyl alcohol? That's just a guess but do some homework, this should be easy if you plan to react with it.
