Example of isomer separation for Meth

Hello,

After receive and see many questions about Meth resolution process I decided to show you an example with my own pics(not professional ones as you will see hahaha):

- 3.65L of "dirty" freebase(just separated and dried after hydrolysis process)

- 5.11L of water

- 2.55kg of L-tartaric acid(dextro-tartaric acid, d-tartaric acid)

- Mix the L-tartaric with the water until all dissolved

- Add the freebase to the mixture while vigorous stirring

- After around 2 min stirring the mixture is hot and becomes thick and later a solid mass

Now the process is practically finished just leave it at RT 24 hours and filter it with vacuum.
D-meth freebase will appears after after turning the liquid part alkaline(PH 13).

I wonder why the conventions, +/- and R/S have not universally applied. It seems ,1R,2R tartaric acid, 1S,2S, tartaric acid and the non- optically active 1R,2S and 1S,2R mesomers is a lot more informative

btcboss2022It works with MDMA freebase and Ketamine freebase too just changing ratios with molar weight of each freebase. Remember that in the MDMA and Ketamine case the interesting isomer will be in the solid part using these reagents ;-)

btcboss2022Pretty sure for mdma shulgin found that both enantiomers are required for the "full" effects.

I don't think separating the enantioners is worth it for mdma

CryoThioAs you know each person has his preferences about sensations and feelings and some people like effects of L-MDMA and viceversa I cant have an opinion because I never taste it I always used racemic one but I read in that forum possitive feedbacks about L-MDMA

When you have another racemic batch add the L-meth and make the separation process.

btcboss2022Over reacting with ultrasound does exactly the same but depends on the reactants. I use a modified barbier type reaction without thf or any buffering solvent.

Jordan BelfortHonestly I never used that and I dont know how it works I should study it but does exactly the same separating isomers or turning L-meth racemic ?
Because goes from clear to cloudy dont means anything specific could be for other reasons.

Mr Good CatThis diagram was the only bit of info I have found on this process. It is from a European law enforcement report explaining the different methods mostly found in EU. It didn't go into much detail.

FredDurstI love to resolve difficult questions. And it looks MDMA isomers are different from meth.
