I recently decided to try out the ''NEW'' BMK salts once more - give them another chance. I bought 3 batches from 3 different sellers, 2 were COMPLETE garbage 1 was low yield. ALL of the sellers didn't know the exact CAS of the salts, yet they all had a similar texture to them (photos). The problem was not the conversion to the ketone, which was almost instant, the problem was that the ketone itself was not reacting using the leuckart, it either floated on top and didn't submerge or even if it did, it was further unresponsive to NaOH/KOH hydrolysis. This makes me think that 99% of the so called ''NEW'' BMK salts are completely different/fake ketones/glycidates. Here are photos of real 5449-12-7 and ''NEW'' fake BMK. Another thing I have to mention is that I let them sit for some time in open air, dry atmosphere (about 2 months) and they started to become a different color and clump up together while the old 5449-12-7 stayed ABSOLUTELY the same as I bought it well over 1,5 year ago.

I can only agree, I have done several tests from different providers. Most were not usable. One had a yield of 30-35% after steam distillation (which is necessary, unfortunately otherwise it is not usable). Now I have a further order that is my last hope. If that doesn't work, the most sensible thing to do would be to switch to p2np.
