Growing poppy seeds

Does anyone have experience growing poppies? or from the poppy variety? Thanks

Papaver somniferum and Papaver setigerum are best not easy growing indoor. Can be rewarding outdoors if done properly

i thinking papaver somniferum danish flag or papaver somniferum black dragon, But how to achieve good results? It grew from thousands of seeds. and I have 10 plants

If you can provide a natural environment, you will have better results growing

use "purple jagged flag" (the golden triangle strain variants) or the "china white"

as for yield, you have to spread out the seeds let the grow a bit . then do the "thinning out" you get rid of many plants, so that you've left only the strongest ones with an 2-4 cm Radius of free soil-space around each.

the roots are deep ranging so if you can grow them outrdoors on free ground. if you have to use pottery, find the biggest possible.

i do them every year. guerilla style in the whole suburban neighboorhood.... the local town gardeners even taking then care of em (in germany its a traditioonal decorational garden flower and grewn legal)

my pods have over 20% Morphine type alkaloids in the 2024 variant.

I can't get poppy seeds like you write, I only had a few packages of Danish flag, I prepared the field but the result is ridiculous. I'll have to run around the fields again and steal from the farmer and he has a very small content of alkaloids, but better than nothing.

I have made poppy tea with a pound or two, many times, and broadcast them everywhere after I made the tea. Some took and some didn't, and ones that landed on organic super soil, or compost, or even a spot where a compost pile was at the begining of the season, ...broadcast them during cannabis harvest time(October/November) and in May or June, there are pods everywhere, some small some huge

That's exactly how I planted, but I planted in the spring... but only a few plants have grown, but all of them in the corner of the area I planted, I don't know what makes it special.. I think there is the same soil on the area, and you have no experience with growing poppies that are grown as ornamental? for example, the Danish flag
