As you can see the reaction was refluxed.... look at all the beads of water condensing on the flask walls... just not a heavy reflux.

Take a look if you can get "Rhinopront Kombi" pills, they contain 60mg of Pseudo and 2,5mg Triprolidine.
Online pharmacys sell them for half the price you pay in normal pharmacy stores. Pharmay stores also just sell one or max. two packages of it, online pharmacys sometimes sell 1-2 packages more. It's great if you have some friends / other people ordering them from different online stores. But never ever order it to the address where the "magic" happens, should be clear.
These pills are super easy and great for extraction and you'll get super high quality of Pseudo if you take some time into washing / cleaning / recristallization of the product.

Grind the pills in an electric coffee grinder and extract 3 times with denatured alcohol, do a 12-24h soak in xylene e.g., after that wash it by stiring 5-10 minutes in hot/boiling toluene(using a magnetic steerer with heating for example, 2-3 times with fresh toluene and take care for very GOOD ventilation!), then wash with acetone and recristallize from hot methanol or ethanol. You can get super clean, large crystall-needles of Pseudoephedrine that way.

All solvents should be as dry as possible, e.g. by drying with molecular sieves.

If you are located in Germany this is by far the best way to get Pseudoephedrine by extraction. All the other Pseudo medication and pills like "Reactine Duo" are totally crap and full of additives which makes extraction for obtaining good and clean Pseudo almost impossible.

And like I wrote, if ordered in online pharmacys "you" are able to order easily 3, sometimes 4 packs for roundabout the half of the regular pharmacy price, while some pharmacy stores in the city don't sell more then one package at a time.
I don't know how the situation looks by now, but several years ago ordering them in the amount I wrote was absolutely no problem.

It is best to start ordering small amounts and take some other stuff with it (nasal spray or something like that) and see how the order will be processed. And again, never ever order by yourself to your private adress!

You work the same route as with the hydrochloride, but you need to recalculate the proportions. Since oxalic acid is dibasic, the difference in recalculation for the ephedrine base will be small.
