Question about Liquid pseudoephedrine HCl

Hello, I got access to
Liquid pseudoephedrine HCl - 30mg/5ml
Is there any simple way to extract the salt from the liquid?

For 4 gr pseudo :



- Add 1/4 teaspoon of sodium hydroxide and mix well

-Add naphtha 2 times the amount of pseudoephedrine and mix with the lid closed.

- Transfer the naphtha to a different container and add about 10 ml of distilled water into it.

- Add 30% diluted hydrochloric acid (about 10 drops) until the pH is neutral to slightly acidic

- separate the water layer into a different container and evaporate in the oil bath

you need to do what is called an acid base extraction, Guy above my comment is basically giving you the basic idea. you can use more than naptha, it can be toluene, hexane, ether, whatever, anything non polar. you'll find a description of this mechanism on the 3rd page of the videos section. its also called A/B extraction for short and that is how you'll likely find more references to it
