Yes i was thinking about do it in a reactor to, what you think about using Steam generator like this , mayby to mutch Steam? Its 3L /70min output.
If you want to use external steam thats fine, but you need to heat the main flask aswell, thats the most important
yes that's my idea double layer glass reactor with heating transfer oil, at around 130-150c due to the large volume of oil, extra steam source should speed up the process?
External steam is preferred, the depicted wallpaper remover is no suited though as it makes wet steam.. Look for a steamgenerator which makes a minimum of 110°C 2,5 bar steam. The vesel where the goodies are in must be heated and insulated all around in special on top up to where the bend to the condenser is. This is to prevent steam condensing in the vessel/ducts.
Unknown or underestimated is one important factor: Mean free path. the wider this path is the faster the distillation proceeds. Practicalyl it says you want a wide opening in the vessel, say 8 cm minimum ID. The connected tubing must be of the same diameter and there must be no constrictions up to the actual condensing area. "Mean free path" also says that there must be no sharp bends which would act the same as a factual constriction of diameter, say the wider the bend towards condenser the better. Worst would be a vertical tube with a downwards tube attached directly in a sharp angle. Thats crap. Ideal would be a retort shaped vessel with the retort being made in a wide fluid angle. Like traditional Scottish whisky stills often are.
The correct configuration speeds the process more up then heating or pressure without having to put more heat into it whats of course good for the product (less stress).
