What's wrong with this simple SnB method?

01 - I either use a 600ml or 1L coke bottle, cleaned and dry.
02 - I add 50g of AmmoniumNitrate powder (taken out of cold packs and grinded)
03 - I mix in 13g of pill content, which is 48 pills at 30mg PSE = 1.44g
04 - I add 250ml of white gas for a 600ml bottle, or 400ml for a 1L bottle.
05 - I cut a battery open, either a Panasonic Lithium AA, or a CR123A 3V battery
06 - quickly separate the lithium from the rest and pull it in the battery. I was told to cut it into small square, but feeling rush, I sometimes just put it in a few pieces. I can't cut with metal scisors, right?
07 - I give that a good shake before adding the NaOH (50g as well).
08 - I shake it again
09 - if after a few minutes, I see no reaction. I add 5ml water.
10 - usually takes less than 60 seconds before things start moving inside.
11 - I see tons of new orange stuff moving around. sometime the lithium is lighting up. also golden nuggets appeared.
12 - I test the bottle pressure by pressing it
13 - when it's really hard; i let some pressure escape by quickly venting it.
14 - after less than 15 minutes, the bottle gets perforated at the bottom, and most of the liquid is lost.
15 - I tried saving some, and HCl gasing it, but nothing clearly precipitate.
16 - yield is zero/null.


Alternative:
- I sometime prepare the lithium in fuel first and add NH₄NO₃ + pill content next.
- I tried using Gorilla tape to strenghten the bottom.
- Could I try a magnetic stirrer to keep things moving inside at all time? I would need a different Reaction Vessel.

I think it's a lot. Next time start by taking this recipe and burning it. Then use the recipe I gave you. Go find a semi truck. Push on the tire with your thumb. That's 100 psi. That's how hard the bottle needs to get. Don't vent it unless/until it grows an inch taller.

Are you trying to get him killed or at the least burnt up. Don't compare truck tire psi to pop bottle psi . Just go get a steel fire extinguisher and discharge it an unscrew the top empty it out and then clean it out really really good when you think it's clean cleaning some more. Make sure it's totally dry even put it in oven for an hr or so at 250 to make sure all water is gone. Then the tube that is attached to the top cut bit off right up by where it connects. then take apart the top valve clean it good too. Then take your dry fire extinguisher and put in you cold pack then your fuel and you don't need to add water but if you must do it now before you add the lithium as the water will go to the bottom and lithium floats on top. Don't ever add water after you add lithium. then take your pill powder add it then your lithium and get the top ready to put on but before you do add your lye and then screw on the top and give it a swirl or two it should start wait for about 1 min and press the discharge to vent out any oxygen that might be in there. Then place in a pan of boiling water watch the psi gage when it's in the green about theb12 o'clock position take it and plung it into a bucket of ice and saltwater with till psi is down to discharge side then start shaking that fucker till it is back in the green . Then step out side and vent it off and then pour it off and the rest you should know

Well, that's helpful. I am following the same directions. I had already found the same recipe on here before you sent it to me. it has a lot of useful details indeed.
I wanted to write in simple terms the steps and understand why the bottle broke.

but on a separate chat, i understood it's the lithium burning the bottle and not the pressure breaking it.

I will reread that recipe to catch what else I might have missed.

I thought I commented on this... maybe it was another one.
Anyway, If you (or anyone else for that matter) is still working on this and needs help send me a pm and I will try to coach you. This whole thing really is not the best idea to begin with, nevermind trying to improvise RVs with bad or incomplete instructions/recipes and a new bee's handling. I can't stress enough how important it is to understand what exactly it is you are trying to do here and what the different phases of the reaction look like. The sequence and technique of simply just adding the ingredients can be the sole factor of whether or not this works well, works at all, or just ignites and makes a mess.

I realize how lucky I was to be able to pull it off on my second attempt because I've tried to replicate the experiment about a dozen times since and have botched it in one way or another more than half the time. You could say I've learned the hard way from near successes and epic fails just how tempermental this reaction is by approaching it loosely and sloppily. Do yourself a favor and don't try it at home, or atleast [completely] indoors, and have safety measures and preparations in place to put out a fire, purge gasses immediately and clean up scalding hot acids or bases in solvents.. and there is the lithium to be mindful of also. This better attempted NOT on a rainy or very humid day. Think bucket of sand and or bucket of cold water with a soaked towel.. a big fan for intake/exhaust.. PPE - mask, gloves etc. You probably won't need it %99 of the time but there will eventually be that %1 when you wish you had things close at hand.
