Here are the exactly details how I did, I must did it in these amounts because I didn't had enough sodium borohydride( new order arriving ;-)) and I used a big glass reactor so don't pay so much attention to the amounts the original synth posted here has the correct amounts of products, focus on the process only.

Synthesis:

1. Solution IPA/H2O 2:1 (10,4L) was added to the reactor and stir at room temp.
2. NaBH4 (500gr) was added at once while stirring.
3. P2NP (287gr) was added in small portions, so that the temperature of the mixture did not exceed 60 *С.
4. CuCl2 (30 g) in water (57,50 ml) was added at once the temperature of the mixture did not exceed 80 *С.
5. Thereafter, reaction was then held at 80 °C for 30 minutes using external heating.
6. The mixture is filtered with Buchner funnel to clean it from the solid waste of the CuCl2
7. 25% water solution of NaOH (2,3 liters) was added to reaction mixture stir 5 min and once stirring stopped leave separate phases 1 hour.
8. The aqueous phase was thereafter extracted with 2,3 liters of IPA.
9. The first layer separated is mixed with the IPA extraction and the mixture dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered with Buchner funnel.
10. IPA was evaporated on vacuum to an oil.
11. Water is added to the oil to make steam distillation.
12. The distilled mixture is extracted twice with DCM(around 250ml of DCM for each 2 liters of mixture)
13. Extraction is evaporated on vacuum in rotavap until gets off all the DCM.
14. 254gr of Amphetamine freebase are obtained(transparent oil with PH 13)
15. The cooled freebase is mixed with cold methanol(533ml).
16. 34,5 ml of cooled pure sulfuric acid was added slow dropwise while strong stirring until PH 6 during this process an increasingly dense paste is formed.
17. 790gr of amphetamine "pasta" are obtained.
18. The mixture was put in the freezer for 12 hours.
19. After this 12 hours you can choose if filter it and dry it to obtain the amphetamine sulfate(wash it with acetone with this clean and pure result won't change anything), or directly keep it as "pasta" form in freezer.
20. To consume the product from the "pasta" form take and small portion of it and spread it for example on a sheet of paper or on a hot plate until it dries.

After evaporating ipa in a rotary evaporator, i always get an oil that does not separate from the water when water is added for the subsequent steam distillation and therefore does not float on top, it is a homogeneous solution, if i then steam distil fiese, i also get a homogeneous cloudy solution in the receiving flask. What could be the reason for this? does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Please help!

Respect the procedure next time, especially if it’s the first time you’re doing itor you’re unexperienced.It says dropwise.Do you have external cooling? Ice bath works great.

Hello everyone. I tried to make some amphetamine using this recipe on a small scale, but failed. Everything seemed ok, after drying my product looked like white powder with a tinge of redness. If it was amphetamine sulfate (which I was trying to make), the yield would be 84%. The problem is, it's not amphetamine.

Physiological effects
I tried 20-30 mg, there was definitely stimulation, but also it caused fever and, apparently, a decline in immunity: both times I took it for several days in a row, I fell ill with respiratory infections (first time I thought it was a coincidence). Another person that took it did not experience any stimulation from up to 90 mg, only some mouth dryness. Neither of us have any tolerance to stimulants.

Chemical testing
1 g of the powder completely dissolves in 10 ml H2O.
When I added excess NaOH solution to a measured mass of the powder in a test tube, I got an approximately right volume of freebase smelling of ammonia. I separated the freebase layer, dried it with CaCl2 and tried to titrate it with acid. As a result, I measured molar mass of the freebase to be about 171 (and for amphetamine it's 135). While my measurements weren't very precise, the difference is still too large to be explained by measurement errors alone.

My deviations from the procedure

1) When adding P2NP, I realized it was going to take hours, so I got impatient and immersed the reaction flask in a room temperature water bath. After that I was able to add P2NP almost all at once, and the temperature of the mixture didn't exceed 40-50 °С.
2) I was following the video, so I didn't evaporate the IPA and added conc. sulfuric acid to the IPA/freebase layer directly.
3) I didn't have any acetone at the moment, so I didn't add it before acidifying and I washed the filtered "amphetamine sulfate" paste with IPA.
4) IPA is less volatile than acetone, so I had to put my precipitate in an oven for several hours to dry it to constant weight. The temperature in the oven didn't exceed 80 °С.

So, the big question is, where did it go wrong? I wouldn't be surprised with low yield or no product at all, but getting a good yield of an amine that's not amphetamine?!

This recipe looks the easier to make amphetamine in the forum. But I see speed paste been sold for 800 euros/kg on darkweb, how can be that price? If I used this recipe only the chemicals cost 800 euros/kg, what's wrong here? How can they sell so cheap?

Nitrostyrene 32 (2.77 g, 10 mmol) was added carefully in portions to a stirred suspension of NaBH4
(2.84 g, 75 mmol) in IPA (32 ml) and water (16 ml) causing an exothermic reaction increasing the
temperature of the mixture to 50-60°C. Thereafter a 2M solution of CuCl2 (0.5 ml, 1 mmol) was
added carefully dropwise causing further exothermicity. The reaction was then held at 80°C for 30
minutes using external heating. After reaching r.t, a 25% solution of NaOH (20 ml) was added
under stirring and the phases were separated. The aqueous phase was thereafter extracted with
IPA (3x30 ml). The extractions were combined, dried over MgSO4 and filtered. A stoichiometric
amount of 4M HCl in dioxane was added to the filtrate under stirring. The mixture was evaporated
yielding a greyish sludge that was suspended in dry acetone and stirred for 1 h. The suspension
was thereafter filtered and washed with dry acetone to yield 33 as a colorless amorphous solid
(2.02 g, 71%).

If I’m not correct, sodium cyanoborohydride ( Na[BH3(CN)] ) reacts with water to produce NaBO2, H2 and HCN (hydrogen cyanide), which as you may know is highly toxic, so it should only be done under a fume hood. It’s a weaker reducing agent than sodium borohydride, so it might not be as effective, and since it’s molar mass is about 1/3 higher, you’ll need 1/3 more of it in grams (for example, instead of 9 grams of sodium borohydride you would need over 12 grams of sodium cyanoborohydride).

Hello, I tried to do this in a 50 L reactor with heating and cooling... I did it a few times...

1. I poured 4.8 L of IPA into the reactor, then added 2.4 L of distilled water and added 696 g of NaBH4

2. I gradually added p2np in portions of 20-30 g and the temperature went from 27 to 50 C, I added all p2np in about 4 hours

3. I started to add dissolved CuCl2 42 g in 90 ml of distilled water and the temperature started to rise from 40 to 80 C and when I added all the CuCl2 I heated it to 80 C and cooked for another 30 min.

4. When, with mixing, the mixture from the reactor cooled down to 40 C, I took it out of the reactor and filtered it, separated the black mass from the liquid and returned the liquid to the reactor

5. Rastopio sam 3,2 destilovane vode + 80 g natrijum hidrida i taj rastvor uz mešanje dodao u reaktor... Amphetamine oil = amphetamine base (an oily substance). The upper layer which you extracted is isopropyl alcohol along with amphetamine base, so it’s normal that it has higher volume than the amount of P2NP that you used.

Hi! I think it is normal if you prefer extractable DCM or Ethanol, which further reduce the amount of water in it and result in cleaner oil and better yield.

If you want to isolate the amphetamine base, you can simply distill/evaporate the IPA at 80-90 degrees celsius, untill you have only the amphetamine base left. Although I don’t know why you would do that.

There’s no way how to know how much amphetamine base there is in your solution. But if you’ve done the synthesis correctly, then you should get around 60% yield.
