Easiest Way To Synthesize Mescaline HCL

Hey guys,
I'm a very amateur chemist who has been doing a fair amount of research (along with my friend who is an experienced chemist) into synthesis of mescaline hcl. Can anyone point me in the direction of a relatively simple (and safe) way to synthesize this compound?

I'll still tell you what a 5 minute Google search would have told you...

3, 4, 5, trimethoxybenzaldehyde to 3,4,5, trimethoxynitrostyrene, 3, 4, 5 trimethoxynitrostyrene to mescaline.
