what sort of indoor lab setup is best for h2 gas when using a duct with a fan and filter? originally (in the absence of a filter) i was going to have a ptfe pipe through my window, outletting the h2 and have a fan blowing behind it towards the window.

i have a tent, but i don't want to burn alive in there because of a small h2 leak that gathers at the top, since i'll be in there for 6 hours while i'm adding the p2np. the same risk is present with doing it in a room.

mithyl2If you are cooking in a tent, make sure to have a propper ventilation. Additionally place vents inside too, small ones for cannabis growing.
Make sure to also have fresh air access for circulation

mithyl2I have a growtent with an active carbon filtration system As for the cooling I simply place my 20L RBF in a big ass water bucket (100L or so) that I will a little less than the height of the RM (also adding some icecubes helps). I also have lights that I can move around and cannabis vents (small) that I can move around like I need them.
The tent is 2x2 and is used for synthesis, extractions, evaporations and crystalization

Gordon Ramsayhave there ever been any problems with h2 leaks? and if the h2 gets outside of the tent then couldn't it cause an explosion in the room the tent is in?

and aren't the lights a hazard? because the heat from them could cause an explosion if there's any residual h2 in the tent that hasn't been sucked up by the filter

mithyl2Actually not, I do not work with open flames and I also don't work with vacuum destillations.
The risk of an explosion in my lab is very small.

mithyl2I do not know that actually It is good that you try to deal with security and risks beforehand!
Anyway, I have cared for a secure mask + propper ventilation and then just started with it It will be important to have a circulation in your tent to also receive new fresh air

i need to get this synthesis done and write up my report for it ASAP, but i don't want to injure myself or worse... it's really frustrating having to be this pedantic when I just want to get on with the synthesis haha.

mithyl2I have one fan inside the tent, blowing the air out and was working in generally quite good ventilated conditions so that was not needed, it would be benefitial depending on your conditions

It is not that complicated actually dude. Working with a propper mask + ventilation and you will be fine

this was my absolute first time so I’m sure I made some mistakes along the way, but I just wanted some experience. Ended up having a very fun time. Totally found my new hobby here. Can’t wait to get into some more experiments and improving on my techniques.

mithyl2I had my set up right by the opening of a doorway to the outside and a larger box fan pulling air from my work area out the door way.

Probably not the most effective or airtight way (like a fume hood) but I did see the vapor fumes from my reflux condenser being sucked through my fan and into the outside air. For smaller experiments, it does seem to be effective though.
Another idea I had before this was to put some sort of hose adaptor on the top of my reflux condenser and attach a vent hose to the outside that way.

I will be building a fume hood in the coming months as I’d like to have a more proper setup and I would just recommend building one as well if you’re at all paranoid about this.

what type of motor does your box fan use?

to begin with i'll be doing a synth using 10g p2np. how much hdydrogen gas do you estimate is produced with a synthesis of this size?
