Dehydrogenation of 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) to gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL).

Hello community! Can someone please be so kind and DM me more precise step-by-step information about this synthesis method? I can pay relative price for the information.

After I made a ready mixture from 1,4-butanediol, 4 g of copper chromite catalyst and 0.15 g of sodium hydroxide in a pot and heated it to 200°C and let it cool to room temperature, how exactly I filter the mixture from catalyst? And can i perform the distillation without pressure, just boiling in a pot? Can metal pots be used or ONLY glassware ? This is a serious project and big amounts (300l+) monthly need to be acquired.

Hello, have you tried simple filtration via paper filter?
It would be quite hard to distill taking into account that GBL boiling point is about 200°C. Nevertheless, you can try.
NaOH reacts with metal.

Last year on Telegram, I consulted someone about how to make ghb. He gave me a video that was exactly the same as the one you posted. I could tell it at a glance. Synthesis of γ-butyrolactone from tetrahydrofuran (THF) At first, I encountered a problem in the previous step where the color did not change after stirring for 16 to 18 hours. Later, I overcame this problem and continued the experiment several times. But there was a problem at some step of the distillation. Every time there was a little bit left, and it was not in the condenser, but at the bottom of the flask. There was no liquid in the condenser.I don't know what went wrong. I'm a novice and no one taught me. I studied it myself. Although I haven't continued the experiment yet, I'm really unconvinced. Hi everyone. I tried the THF method and didn’t think it was worth all the effort for the little yield. Has anyone tried the bdo dehydrogenation method? I am trying to get some copper chromite now. If it is as simple as it sounds I should’ve done it sooner. If anyone has any ideas or tips lmk.

I did the bdo to gbl with copper chromite is not 12053-18-8? I tried it and had after had a lot of trouble filtering out the catalyst. I must have burnt it too because when I tried to distillate it the whole solution turned dark brown. I am really struggling with this synthesis
