As Hanna520 wrote in the another thread, it is better to prepare alc. methylamine for this synthesis. You will get fewer problems associated with the hydrolysis of ethyl acetate. You can use triethylamine, ethanol or methanol, or THF. Get a solution of gas and a precipitate of salts without water. It is easy to separate by decanting and you can start your synthesis more successfully. For small quantities this is usually not a problem, but if you want to synthesize several kg at a time it will be significantly different.

hello,
i sow in this post way for make reaction with Methylamine HCL ( no in 40% aqueous solution.
my question is because is more easy with hcl. Have differences with this dos ways?

is better follow the procedure with methylamine 40% aqueous solution prepared previously
or
add Metyliamine hcl directly to the mixture reaction like in this post

some one have tried both methods

usage of hcl methylamine is inproper in that case, it releases more impurties into the mixture, but in the reality of really bad aq 40% that is used in the market i believe its better solution for the new chemists or ptacticants.
Its better to make it urself the aq from the hcl.

Hi, in the recipe you say 100g 2B4M, but in the yield you write 'from 120 g 2B4M', am i missing something?

I think a good yield is about ~60g from 100g of BK4 (for cry)

I would like to know if everybody who tried this route of synthesis get a clear white product ?
I have to wash it Everytime after putting HCL acid inside
when I put icecold Aceton inside the reactor, It becomes dark red color
does anyone know about this problem

acetone cant t be added like "all at once", must be ice cold, should be stirred.

You could have already by products in the freebase from the reaction, it oculd be too long, it could bee to short. Washing could be not ok. I never had red color yet so I cant really tell, as well I cant really tell anything as long there is no details. I can only suggest reading all ofthe post of the section and the best finding mistakes urseslf compare with other user's results

I try to explain exaxtly next time

While I add hydrochloric acid (I stir throughout the entire precipitation process and I also used ice-cold acetone -20 degrees) the acetone/freebase mixture changes color I even think I found the error methylamine and 2b4m not fully reacted Blue-green spots remained in the reactor itself after the failure I have 1000 gr 2b4m, 5L ethyl acetate, 2L 50% caustic soda and 1500 gr. Methylamine HCL used The methylamine was added in 3x 500 g increments, which led to a prolonged reaction could probably be related to that
