Author Linx (banned) the information is not reliable. The reaction in dichloromethane takes an average of 2 hours at 30 degrees.

The alcohols have to be of good quality to fit. IPA is the most readily available. Methyl and ethyl should also work, but they are harder to find the right quality.

This method exists and has supporters. It is supposed to make the free base cleaner.

Alkali can be used during amination to release methylamine from methylamine hydrobromide, it is important to use alkali in a deficient state.
This will give you methylamine savings.
Alkali contributes to the occurrence of side reactions, it should not be in a free form in the reaction.

When working with 2 bromo 4 methylproiophenone you could dissolve 1 : 3 with DCM and start methylamation with 40%, or am I overlooking things here?

Also it also appears to me that the opinions are divided regarding the temperature on which the methylamation takes place. I read that 32-36 C and the solotion is stirred for 2 - 4 hour.
