Why did you use dcm, can this be done without dcm? Also isn't it a bit much to use 12g of I2 for 6g of ephedrine?

Assume i follow every step of this reaction in the video 100%, Except

1. For NAOH, I Use Caustic Soda. (will it decrease purity?)
2. Can i replace DCM with what OTC available solvents? aboveyou mentioned toluene, benzeneor pet. ether?
3. Petroleum Ether can be replaced with what? (at last stage)
4. For HCL Gassing: Will Epson Salt(MGSO4) + Battery Acid (H2SO4-28%) Produce good enough HCL gas ppm to produce the crystal? Or we need concentrated H2SO4 for crystal?

Lastly:
5. Anyone who tried this?
reaction left for 24 Hours between 60-80 Degrees?
6. sodium sulfate added to remove DCM then to sep. funnel. (other than sodium sulfate what other reagent can be used?)

By answering this. it may help future users stop asking all question i think

I did it by refluxing over 7-8h and rising temperature to 180 C at the end. Extraction was done from MTBE which worked very well. Lighter fluid/naphta also worked pretty good, better then toluene imo. Final yield and quality was very good.

For a pound ~444gs of ephedra sinica you would be able to extract 4-14 grams of ephedrine alkaloids

The idea should be be to chemically alter the ephedrine to Amine. So u should only need an equation that creates that synthesis. No more and no less. Idk it offhand. But all u would need to do is find it at its base equation and then u can change it from there depending on your knowledge. So if 1g iodine and .5g rp is enough for 3g ephedrine to be changed to amine (in example, not correct amount just example) u would need to react that synthesis until it is done completely, done completely meaning it doesn’t react anymore at all. However long it takes is however long it takes. From there u change the synthesis to better suit ur needs.

I have a question about a Pseudo Ephedrine source from Pharmacy shop's Tablet's.
It's named Grippostad Complex 500 mg oranges Aroma and 30 mg Pseudo Ephedrine per tablet.
Is it possible to extract them easy with a standard extraction showed here on the Forum
or is there another way to extract them ? Does it have hidden binder Material containing ?
For helpfully answers and idears how to get the good's out i where very Thankfull so !

Spend some time reading about it and answer it for yourself. You need to provide more details about the product in order to get the specific answers. Or you can figure it out yourself as you should be ...if you look up each individual ingredient/chemical and search their solubility properties. Find a solvent that will dissolve your ephedrine/pseudo and nothing else or the least amount. Then you wash the extracted E/PE after it was filtered and dried with something that won't dissolve the ephedrine but will wash away the other crap.
Some advice from the pros include, DRY EVERYTHING - NO WATER/MOISTURE! and NO HEAT! Water and heat are supposedly what activate the binder.

I'll get a packet of Grippostad Complex ASS Pseudoephedrine 20 tablets for €9.50, which would be 0.6 g of crude Pseudoephedrine.
There might be other ingredients listed on the packaging, and then I'll test each one individually for solubility!
Thanks for the tip about cold extraction without water; I'll take that into consideration!

Try to get Psudoephedrine as the only active ingredient.

Povidone and polyethylene glycol are the worst gaak ! Those make the extracting PSE more difficult

Or, if these ingredients are present, should I give the product a wide berth and look for an alternative ?

Povidone is just the worst gaak to separate. A simple alcohol extraction won't do. Swim has read bad news about povidone, but not fatal
