trying to extract pseudoephedrine from pills using only water hasn't worked very well since about 1990. There are about a dozen different chemicals they add to pills to make that impossible. If you take a picture of the ingredient list we'll see which methods they are using in those specific pills and be able to suggest an extraction. There's also a thread on this forum that offers a few methods which work in most scenarios

You first have to make the pill water alkaline, preferably with NaOH.... PSE settles in solvent....then after filtering and cleaning whatever, the PH value is brought to the neutral state (PH6) using acid To get PSE from the solvent into a clean layer of water, which is obtained after evaporation.

There may be a few methods, but this is mine!

my tablets contain: Triprolidine hydrochloride 2.5 mg
Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 60 mg
Excipients: lactose monohydrate, starch, magnesium stearate, povidone and water.

Can I remove pseudoephedrine just by adding ethanol and filtering and evaporating it?

Dissolve it in alkaline water, pH 12, then extract it with toluene or xylene
Then wash the toluene with water once, taking care that the alkalinity does not decrease. Then separate the toluene and pump hydrogen chloride gas into the toluene. The crystals of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride will fall. Filter the sediment and dry it.

After alkalinity is carried out, the pseudoephedrine base is dissolved in the toluene. Separate the toluene from the water, then add clean distilled water to the toluene and separate it a second time to remove the sodium particles. Then pump Hcl gas to the toluene. The pseudoephedrine Hcl salt will come out. Filter.

Thank you very much for your help friend. Do you know what yield this process is capable of generating?
